Yerba Mate is the ‘tea’ of choice in Brazil, although it is actually not a tea, it is a tisane and is highly celebrated throughout the entire continent. The leaves grow only in the shade of the rainforest, making this a difficult plant to grow outside of South America.

Tea Profile

Brazilian Yerba Mate is known for its bitter-sweet, toasty flavour, with hints of olive leaf and eucalyptus leaf. Not only does this tisane contain caffeine, but its natural properties have been found to stimulate both your body and mind. It is also high in vitamin C and antioxidants.

Steeping Times: Use 1½ teaspoons per person and add boiled water that has been allowed to cool for 2 minutes, (about 80°C/175°F). Steep for between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. You will be able to re-steep the leaves up to 6 times. The shorter the infusion time, the more times you can use the leaves.
